Advancing precision health through science.

BioNutriOmics studies how genomics, food intake, physical activity, and social determinants of health work together to reduce the risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and health disparities.

What Our Research Shows

Our research found that genetic risk, diet, physical activity, and metabolic health work together to influence the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

DASH and Mediterranean dietary patterns, together with physical activity, were associated with lower type 2 diabetes risk—even among people with higher genetic and metabolic risk.
